Saw a rat in broad daylight. Looked like it came out of the broken basement window at 176 w 6th. Not sure if it’s possible to send someone to take a look and place traps in the area.

Hello. I lease a parking space at Fenmore Condominiums. The parking lot is located behind 1111 Boylston Street; 31 Ipswich Street and Charlesgate East. I have been parking there for over 15 years. During this time, I can honestly say that I never saw a rat in the parking area. There has always been a large garbage truck-sized container that remains in place in the center of the Fenmore Parking Lot, at all at times. The container is emptied daily (I believe) by Republic Garbage Collection. It is open to the elements. During the Republic Garbage strike this summer - and since tnen; I have seen more rats than I have ever seen in my entire life. I actually saw one running towards me; and I ended up falling and hurting myself. When I walk to my car in the evening to drive home (I live in Newton and work in the Back Bay); the rats can be seen scurrying from the garbage container. Once I turn on my car, the lights happen to shine right on the Garbage container. I have counted up to 15 rats running from the Container. It's a sight to behold!! I mentioned it to one of the Fenmore building managers - but he speaks poor English and didn't seem to understand the gravity of the issue. It is out of control. Just last night, I ran into a rat running up the outdoor steps that lead from the Parking Lot to CharlesGate East. He showed no fear; and stood there; until i stopped my feat; and it ran to a corner. I truly hope that someone reads this and is able to send someone there to see it first-hand, once evening arrives. Thank you very, very much. It's a health concern; as one of those rats could easlly spread disease or get aggresive when cornered. It's also just gross.
